Intellectual Property & Innovation Unit
The IP & Innovation unit at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust supports commercial and healthcare related partnerships and activities with Industry, SMEs and Charities internationally.
The unit supports: commercial research collaborations, contract research, knowledge transfer & consultancy activities, material transfers, product evaluation services, product development collaborations, technology transfer of Hospital discoveries and inventions (incl. licensing opportunities, company & joint venture formations) and encourages engagement with Industry. The unit interfaces with a wide variety of partners, including but not limited to: Pharma, Biotech, Clinical Research, IT & Data Management, Diagnostic and Medical Device sectors.
Partnerships in Translational Research, Product Development and Product Validation:
The IP & Innovation unit helps the commercial sector navigate and facilitate interaction with its clinical and research disciplines to generate ethical and mutually beneficial outcomes for healthcare. The unit engages with external partners to support service innovations, contract research services, product development services/collaborations, diagnostic and medical device evaluation services and commercial research collaborations as well as facilitating multi-centre partnerships through it’s Hospital and University partners in the Biomedical Research Centres’ and the King’s Health Partners’ joint research programmes (with access to pioneering research collaborations between one of the world's leading research-led universities and three of London's most successful NHS Foundation Trusts).
Innovation, Licensing & Spin-outs:
The Trust has a range of licensing and spin-out opportunities where it actively seeks partners in the fields of: diagnostics, pharmacogenomics, telehealth, clinical management and disease monitoring software, media and a range medical devices. The IP & Innovation unit helps introduce the commercial sector and other collaborators to Guy’s and St. Thomas’s clinical expertise including pioneering clinicians and key opinion leaders. We understand that the exchange and improvement of knowledge, skills and processes helps optimise clinical delivery and clinical research outcomes.
