Guy’s and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is the leading teaching hospital of the nation with many world class clinicians and academics. Its related medical schools form the largest base of biomedical science research in the whole of Europe.

There is an active R&D office in the Trust, supported by Corporate Development and Finance. In addition to R&D activities in the Trust, which attract millions of pound of research funds every year from the Government, research charities and industry, many innovations arise from daily clinical management of patient care. They have provided and continue to provide a solid foundation for GSTT's clinical excellence, as well as medical and scientific research excellence. The results of the innovation process lead not only to publications in medical and scientific journals, but also to clinical and laboratory applications, benefiting the UK and international healthcare.

There are collaboration projects, both nationally and internationally, pulling together the best knowledge and expertise available. Proper interaction of clinical care and scientific research is critical in the Trust. Medical Research Gift Funding

The Trust has an international reputation in the field of Clinical Research and has been responsible in the past for many clinical break-throughs and clinical innovations.

Clinical Research is expensive and there is always a shortage of funding, which inhibits work in this area. GSTT welcomes approaches from individuals, institutions or charities who wish to fund research in a particular field or who wish to make a donation or bequest.
